ICTV is currently seeking candidates to fill the following positions:

Administrative Officer, Alice Springs (Indigenous identified)

Full-time

Internal Award Level 4 $60,000-$68,000 per annum, plus superannuation

ICTV is seeking an experienced Administration Officer. 

The Administration Officer position works closely with the Operations Manager to provide high level administrative, secretariat and basic book-keeping support. The successful candidate will have worked in a similar administrative position, have strong Microsoft office skills (including Excel and Word) and some experience using financial software such as Xero or MYOB. Additional training in ICTV systems and Xero will be provided.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE

  • The Administration Officer is responsible for working within administrative systems at the ICTV Office. Duties include:

    • Electronic filing of internal administrative documents
    • Maintaining and updating asset register
    • Maintaining and updating incoming and outgoing freight and mail register
    • Assisting with the preparation of monthly staff meetings
    • Receptionist duties, as required
    • Collecting and distributing mail as required
    • Maintaining administrative spreadsheets within Smartsheet’s portal 
    • Maintaining and updating staff information in the HR portal
    • Oversee replenishment of stationery requirements and consumables for the ICTV office 
    • Organising travel and travel itineraries for staff and board members
    • Distribution of Annual Reports
    • Assist in the processing of fortnightly payroll
    • Entering supplier invoices and reconciling bank account in Xero 
    • Following up outstanding creditors and debtors 
    • Collating monthly bank reconciliations 
    • Entering budgets into Xero
    • Liaising with accountant and auditor as required
    • Entering depreciable assets into Xero
    • Maintaining accuracy of ‘TO DO’ documents in Smartsheet
    • Updating membership database and processing membership applications
    • Preparing for and organising Board and General Meetings
    • Recording minutes for Board, General and other meetings as requested 
    • You may also be required to: 

      • Undertake training as required 
      • Participate in industry events
      • Report monthly as requested 
      • Adhere to OH&S requirements and organisational policy 
      • Other duties as reasonably requested

Television Station Manager, Alice Springs (Indigenous prioritised)

Internal Award Level 2 $91,000 per annum, plus superannuation

The Station Manager is responsible for the overall day to day management of the television station, including the coordination of associated digital platforms and content acquisitions. Your principal responsibility is to ensure that the programming on the ICTV television and on-demand services service is continuous, meets audience needs, is dynamic and engaging and conforms to the ICTV Programming Policy.

Position Description

The Station Manager reports directly to the ICTV General Manager and plays a critical role in the overall management and operations of ICTV’s television and on-demand services. This role is also responsible for ensuring the organisation delivers the ICTV mission of providing a television service that works to improve the lives of Indigenous Australians and meets its key strategic objectives: Provide accessible platforms to showcase our unique identities, grow the audience and content makers, build long term financial sustainability.

ICTV is a company of Indigenous and non-Indigenous media workers and a community of screen practitioners from as far away as the outer islands of the Torres Strait to remote Western Australia.

  • Skills
  • Broadcast Technology Proficiency: A deep understanding of broadcast technology, including playout systems, satellite uplink, video streaming, and digital broadcasting.
  • Technical Management Experience: Experience in managing technical staff, overseeing equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting technical issues efficiently.
  • Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills to manage schedules, resources, and technical workflows effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise with technical staff, management, and external vendors.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to analyse and solve technical problems quickly and effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to broadcast operations.
  • Budget Management: Experience in budgeting for technical equipment purchases, maintenance, and upgrades, optimising resources within budget constraints.
  • Regulatory Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of regulatory requirements for broadcasting, including licensing agreements, compliance standards, and safety regulations.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Ability to lead and motivate technical teams, provide guidance, and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to evolving technologies and industry trends, implementing innovative solutions to improve broadcast quality and efficiency.
  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to monitoring technical operations, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Project Management Skills: Proficiency in managing technical projects, from planning and execution to evaluation and documentation.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Capability to collaborate effectively with other departments such as programming, production, and management to ensure seamless integration of technical operations with overall station objectives.

News Director, Alice Springs

ICTV is seeking an experienced journalist to lead the ICTV News team. 

ICTV is a television service delivering cultural and community video content to remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities around Australia, and beyond. ICTV enables the sharing of cultural stories, song and dance, language and essential information through our television broadcast and on-demand platform and by producing and supporting the production of video content in remote communities. Our content is created for, and by, Indigenous Australians living in remote communities. ICTV is a not-for-profit public company limited by guarantee and is managed by an Indigenous Board of Directors. The vision of ICTV is to strengthen culture and community through the power of moving-image. Our purpose is to improve the lives of Indigenous Australians in remote areas through access to cultural and community video content.

Qualifications & experience

  • We’re seeking an established journalist/producer with senior editorial experience ready for the next step in their career.
  • Tasks & responsibilities

    • Providing editorial oversight and direction for Community News and Young Way News.
    • Supporting producers/reporters to research and write news stories with specific interest to audiences in remote Indigenous communities.
    • Facilitating training for newsroom cadets.
    • Liaising with contributor organisations and individuals regarding the submission of news content.
    • Supervising staff working in the news, including managing news staff KPIs.
    • Researching, developing and writing your own stories occasionally.
    • Subediting stories.
    • Overseeing filming on location with ICTV crew.
    • Overseeing delivery of training for casual remote reporters in accordance with funding guidelines.
